The Many Faces of Jesus | Week 2

If everything from banks to borders to churches is a story humans invented, what does that mean for the story we tell about Jesus? Week two of The Many Faces of Jesus picks up with Yuval Harari's "adult story time" (why a car company only exists because we all agree it does) and follows José de Acosta, a brilliant, devout young Jesuit who arrived in Peru in 1572 and wrote a theological case for forced conversion. From there it's the Canadian residential schools, a confession at our first South Bay pop-up, and Matthew 7. Pastor Matt Stephan argues that the person of Jesus is not the same thing as the religion of Christianity, and leaves us one very practical tool for telling them apart: check the fruit. Join us Sundays at George Hall.
